The Crimson Diamond is a Laura Bow inspired mystery adventure game by Julia Minamata.[1][2][3] A demo of chapter one was available on February 5, 2020, and the full game was released on August 15, 2024.

Description[]

Nancy Maple is an amateur geologist and reluctant detective who travels north to the fictional ghost town of Crimson, Ontario for a gathering at the Crimson Lodge. There has been a discovery of a massive red diamond, which catches the attention of a cast of eccentric characters. To evaluate the diamond claims, Nancy has to use her notebook and wits to explore the Lodge and it's surroundings. She must search for clues to uncover secrets, eavesdrop on conversations to learn about character motives, and solve some mysteries along the way.

About the Game[]

To capture the feel of both the mechanics and aesthetics of 4-bit color EGA Sierra adventure games from the late 80s to 1990, The Crimson Diamond uses a limited 16-color palette for the artwork and sprites. Nancy is able to walk in two different modes. There's the typical press-to-move mode in which the character moves at the tap of an arrow key and then pressing the same key again will stop her. For easier easily navigation, the hold-to-move option allows the arrow keys to transition between cardinal and diagonal directions. [4]
