Sterling Waldorf-Carlton was the former president of the Leyendecker Museum. He was married to Lavinia Waldorf-Carlton for two months prior to his death.
Though the exact circumstances of his death have not been discussed in detail, it was considered an untimely one. According to the editor's notes in the 1926 edition of the Official Guide to the Leyendecker Museum, he was unable to finish his revised article on the Hall of Medieval Armor, with the finishing touches made by his successor, Archibald Carrington III. His article on the Old Masters Gallery in that edition is a reprint from the 1925 edition, and as such is missing information on a few newer additions.
In his diary, he expressed his fears that Countess Lavinia Waldorf-Carlton only married him for his money, and worries about the possibility that she might wish to kill him. He notes that Yvette Delacroix also feared the Countess.
