Sam Augustini is the Editor and Chief of the New York Daily News Tribune.

When he was a young reporter, he covered the Hindenberg Building explosion in New Orleans. A cop John Bow let him into the wreckage. He saved the life of Rupert Hindenberg who was trapped in his burning office. He made a name for himself and worked his way upwards. He became the editor of New York Daily News Tribune and kept the paper about Hindenberg as a souvenir. He owned John Bow a favor and he hired his daughter Laura Bow to work as a journalist.

He is considered "gruff and loud" but also a "creampuff". His clothes are occasionally stained by soup and sweat.

Sam's Epilogue[]

Worst Ending[]

Extremely unimpressed by Laura's total failure as a reporter, Sam Augustini fired her. Later that same year, he was mugged with a gift shop duplicate of the Dagger of Amon Ra and died from his wounds. He blames her for his death.

Bad Ending[]

Unimpressed by Laura's marginal success, her Editor, Sam Augustini, decided to assign her to the FOOD section of the newspaper. Later that same year, Sam died as the result of a mugging outside the 14th Precinct Police Station in New York City. He blames her for his death.

Good Ending[]

Sam Augustini was impressed by Laura's success at finding the murderer. However, he remained skeptical about her abilities because she didn't find the Dagger of Amon Ra, which he assigned her to report on.

Best Ending[]

Thoroughly impressed by Laura's success as a reporter, her Editor, Sam Augustini, nominated her for a Pulitzer Prize and was present when she received her Citation of Valor from the Police Department. Sam retired ten years later to become a gentleman cabbage farmer, fulfilling a secret lifelong dream.
