Laura bow 2 tut smith

Dr. Ptahseptut "Tut" Smith is a rotund, ruddy-complexioned man in a fez and an ankh medallion. Despite his bulk, he moves with dignity and grace.

Description[]

Dr. Smith is an Egyptian and representative of the Museum of Cairo who requests the return of the Dagger of Amon Ra. He arrived on the Andrea Doria to make his case about Egypt's claim to the dagger to Dr. Pippin Carter, who rudely dismissed him. He also talked on the phone to Archibald Carrington, who denied Egypt's claim. He went to the Leyendecker Museum to convince him of his sincerity, but the dagger was stolen by then. During his time in New York City, he became acquainted with a fellow Egyptian, Rameses Najeer.

Act II[]

Dr. Smith is seen during the museum's charity party event throughout Act II, chatting with the party guests, and expressing his dissatisfaction over the dagger's ownership and its sudden disappearance. Detective Ryan O'Riley interrogates Dr. Smith about where he was at the time of the dagger robbery, implying that he's a suspect and offending the Egyptian. He also chats with Najeer and Yvette about Egyptian etiquette and has another argument with Dr. Carter, accusing each other of stealing the dagger.

Act III[]

Dr. Smith can occasionally be seen wandering the museum. He is missing the Ankh Medallion, and if asked about it, claims to have lost it.

He moves into the Egyptian Exhibit at 10:15 PM for a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Carter, seemingly unaware of his murder. Laura confronts Dr. Smith of his whereabouts, and he explains that Wolf Heimlich took him into Dr. Carrington's Office because there was a phone call. However, the phone line was cut off before he could use it.

A little after 1:00 PM, Dr. Smith helps Yvette Delacroix by moving her desk in her office to cover a stain on the rug. He accidentally receives a slight cut trying to move it, and apologizes for allowing blood to drip on her carpet. Yvette then reaffirms that his "secret" is kept safe with her.

Act IV[]

Dr. Smith can occasionally be seen wandering the museum.

Act V[]

While Dr. Smith's whereabouts are not immediately known, he was present at the Sun Altar as Rameses Najeer presided over the Egyptian Sun Worshiping cult.

Act VI[]

After Laura establishes her case against Detective Ryan O'Riley, Dr. Smith comes forward to law enforcement as a witness to O'Riley's crime when he gunned down several members of the Sun Worshipers who tried to protect her.

Tut's Epilogue[]

Worst and Bad Ending[]

Since the Dagger of Amon Ra was not recovered, Dr. Ptahsheptut "Tut" Smith was forced to commit suicide with a fake Dagger of Amon Ra from the Leyendecker Museum gift shop.

Good and Best Ending[]

Dr. Ptahsheptut "Tut" Smith finally gave up on getting the Dagger of Amon Ra returned to Egypt. However, once it completed its U.S. and European museum tours, it was returned to the Cairo Museum anyway. So, several years later, Tut died a happy man, even though his death was the result of an Egyptian cobra bite.

Tut's Unused Dialogue[]

  • (Ask about Press Pass) I already know you're a journalist.
  • (Ask about Work Boot) LB: Does this boot look familiar?
    • PS: It's too small to fit my large and manly foot.
  • (Ask about Smelling Salts) They have a strong smell.
  • (Ask about Bifocals) I have no need of special glasses. My eyes are as sharp as a hawk's.
  • (Ask about Red Hair) Obviously, those hairs are not from a proud Egyptian head, which would be covered with flowing BLACK hair.
  • (Ask about Yvette's Death) PS: Her death is a great loss to all mankind. She was femininity incarnate. She would have made a suitable second wife for me if she had accepted my generous offer of marriage. I wept when I learned of her demise.
    • LB: Yes, yes. But did you kill her?
    • PS: As I've said before, Miss Bow, I find you quite annoying. You could have learned a lot from Yvette about how to be a female.
    • LB: Well!

Background[]

Tut Smith is portrayed as a 20th century Egyptian, however his name is supposed to be ancient Egyptian (instead of Arabic) and proclaims his belief in Amon Ra (whereas Egypt has been a muslim country). His English surname is not explained.
