Laura bow 2 pippin carter

Dr. Pippin Carter is a tall, dignified, middle-aged gentleman with a carefully trimmed mustache. He is an Englishman who works as the curator of Egyptology at the Leyendecker Museum, and he is known to think very highly of himself.

Description[]

Pippin Carter is the cousin of famed archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter. Pippin made a name for himself for his excavation of the Temple of Amon Ra in the Egyptian Valley of the Kings. It was there that he made his discovery of the Dagger of Amon Ra which helped the Leyendecker Museum establish its prominent position in the field of archaeology. He would describe in great self-serving detail about how he (assisted by his faithful assistant Maamoud), uncovered the doorway to the Temple, and how (according to him), 350 workers fell to their knees in awe at his discovery of the Dagger.

His discovery of the dagger, however, sparked a feud between himself and Dr. Smith of the Cairo Museum over its ownership. The two have an argument after they arrived in New York City on the Andrea Doria.

Within the first week after his arrival to the city, the Dagger of Amon Ra was stolen. This infuriated Dr. Carter, who took it as a personal attack against him. He is both unimpressed by the security of the museum and by the police investigation.

Act II[]

Dr. Carter is seen during the museum's charity party, chatting with the party guests, boosting his ego, and expressing his dissatisfaction over the dagger's disappearance. He tells his story about the dagger's discovery to Yvette Delacroix, (Dr. Carrington, Rameses Najeer, and Ziggy), and Rameses Najeer is highly skeptical of Dr. Carter's claims that 350 Egyptian workers fell to their knees in respect and awe after his discovery of the dagger. After Yvette wanders off, Dr, Carter and the rest of the men have a group chat about Yvette.

He also has another argument with Dr. Smith, accusing each other of stealing the dagger. He is last seen at the party organizing a one-on-on meeting with Yvette Delacroix at 8:00 PM in the Egyptian Exhibit.

Between 8:00 and 8:15 PM, Laura discovers the body of Dr. Carter placed inside a sarcophagus at the Egyptian Exhibit. Dr. Carter was meant to have a meeting with Dr. Smith at 10:15 and Dr. Carrington at his office at 11:00. Her scream alerts Detective O'Riley, who puts the museum on lockdown.

Act III[]

For seemingly no good reason, Dr. Carter's body is stuffed into a suit of armor at the Medieval Armor Exhibit. This is despite the claims of Detective O'Riley, who claims that the Coroner was at the party and left the museum with the body, despite the coroner not being seen there.

Act VI[]

During the Coroner's Inquest, it was discovered that Detective Ryan O'Riley murdered Dr. Pippin Carter by stabbing him in the chest and placing him inside a sarcophagus. Dr. Carter came from a rich family who would have use their power to keep the dagger thief from becoming a cold case. The dagger also would be worth more money if its founder were to die.

Pippin's Epilogue[]

Worst Ending[]

Dr. Pippin Carter, wherever he is, is quite displeased. Laura did not recover the Dagger of Amon Ra, nor did she find his murderer. Therefore, Pippin feels it is only fair that he should haunt her for the rest of her life.

Bad Ending[]

Dr. Pippin Carter, wherever he is, is pleased that Laura recovered "his" Dagger of Amon Ra. However, he is not pleased that his murderer got away free, so he's going to haunt her for the rest of her life.

Best Ending[]

Pleased by Laura's success at finding "his" Dagger of Amon Ra AND his murderer, Dr. Pippin Carter now rests in peace. Pippin Carter's body was transported to Egypt by his cousin, and now occupies a place of archaeological honor in the Temple of Amon Ra in the Valley of the Kings.

Pippin's Unused Dialogue[]

  • (Ask about Ernie Leach) Mr. Leach is a good chap. Very helpful. Keeps the place spotless and organized. If you ask me, he's the one who ought to be Chief of Security instead of that Prussian Heimlich fellow.
  • (Ask about Watney Little) I don't believe I'm familiar with that name. Sounds English, though.
  • (Ask about Press Pass) No, thanks. I already have one of Lo Fat's business cards.
